26; Cuffs on Second Life

Mistress Shala ordered me to write down my knowledge about cuffs on Second Life. I hope this note will be both informational and entertaining for Mistress Shala.

Open Collar Cuffs:

The first choice for anyone starting to do Bondage and/or BDSM on Second Life is the Open Collar stuff. These cuffs are created by a community and are available for free.

Usage:

The cuffs work best if combined with an Open Collar which responds to chat commands. In order to pull up the collars menu one just says “xxmenu” in local chat where “xx” marks the resident’s initials. For example, my name on SL is Navaaria Resident so the command is: “nrmenu”. This menu provides access to all the options of the collar and the worn cuffs. Something that really comes in handy is the Open Collar Owner Hud which provides a set owner of a slave with instant access to the collar without having to use chat commands or touch the collar. Open Collar leaves no whishes unfulfilled.

Real Restraint:

I am currently wearing the Vixen Leather Set by Real Restraint. As I understand the creator of Real Restraint, Marine Kelley, also created the original Restrained Life Viewer. So in a sense these restraints are the most original RLV stuff one can get on SL. I myself wear the Vixen Leather set and the RR Ring gag and I am completely happy with them. The only thing I miss on this set is the back-prayer or reverse prayer which is, in my opinion, the sexiest pose for a girls arms.

Usage:

The menu is usually pulled up by touch only although the wearer has the option to bring the menu up with /77 in local chat. If you ever read this Marine, please forgive me but the menu itself is very complex and nested. Whenever someone, who has never used RR before, tries to tie me up I have a lot of explaining to do. Some even gave up on trying…
But once you got to know how it works it becomes a mighty way of restraining slaves. Also RR has very sophisticated lock system, many RLV options and two rather unique features.

The RealKey:

I think RR takes BDSM very seriously and so they see no point in an owner plugin if one can set a dozen owners. So instead they created the RealKey which is a Hud that allows the owner to pull up the menus of the collar and the arm and leg cuffs with one single click. Of the cuffs are locked and the keys (not the RealKey, confused me too in the beginning) of them are taken only the proprietor of the RealKey is able to control the restraints and thus the slave. This key can also be used to improve access to the restraints if you for example wear scripted hair which can sort of shield the collar from touch. For those who don’t like the RealKey there are plugins for ownership and chat commands. Foot note: I tried to set up one single RealKey for all my restraints including the gag which produced script errors. My advice is to set up a RealKey for no more than three restraints.

The Autolock:

This plugin can be real fun. It locks the wearer of the cuffs in a predefined pose and time after a delay timer runs out. The Autolock can be set up by anyone who has access to the cuffs including the wearer if they are unlocked. Just imagine you standing in a crowd the Autolocks delay timer expires. There you are now: tied up, helpless and completely at other people’s mercy from one second to another.

Restrained Freedom:

Just recently I was given a set of RF Multi Cuffs from a very dear friend. Thank you again Kelly!
I must admit I haven’t had the chance to look at them closely but here is what I learned so far. What I really like is that they come with four different cuff types, include a gag, a blindfold, a straightjacket and even earmuffs. So far this is the set with the most options I have encountered. I look forward in using it a lot more. This set includes the back prayer which, as I stated above, I am especially fond of.

Usage:

The entire set is can be controlled by the collar or with chat commands. In this case the commands have to be relayed through channel 5 which in a similar pattern as Open Collar. For example in my case the chat command to bring up my collars menu would be “/5 nrmultimenu”. The “/5” is for talking on channel 5.

The PA plugin:

When I got the set my friend Kelly took me to Paine Asylum where a special feature, the PA plugin, comes in handy. The plugin allows to cuffs to be controlled by accordingly programmed devices. For now this plugin works only at Paine Asylum but Restrained Freedom intends to expand it to other areas. In a sense it works like an RLV trap but it is a fresh approach to the matter. I feel exiting times coming up…

Mesmorize Dungeon:

I see a lot of people wearing MD cuffs. When it comes to usage they are the Nokia of restraints. Simple, well arranged and consistent. They also come with the back prayer which is really incredibly sexy. Oh sorry, do I repeat myself? I can’t help it, this pose is simply awesome…

Usage:

Click one of the unlocked restraints and you get a menu consisting of only three buttons: arrows left, lock and arrows right. Depending what restraint you clicked the arrows get you to the other restraints menus. Clicking the lock button of course locks the cuffs and brings up the advanced menu for poses, restrictions and all the other options. If a locked restraint is set to public clicking the restraints instantly brings up the advanced menu. This advanced menu has the same arrow buttons making it easy for you to change between the collar, arm and leg cuffs.

BWP Witchbound Metal Cuffs:

This set was recommended t me by a friend. I must admit I wore them only once so I can’t review them very well. However they are free and look very promising. One feature I tried out on my friend is the possibility to suspend the slave at any point using something we Austrians jocosely call the “Siemens Air hook”.

Some common features:

It is not unusual that some collars include a built in RLV relay and an animation override. If one wears only one set this makes complete sense but if you like to change your restraints now and then I recommend using stand-alone RLV relays and animation overrides.

25; Good bye, Laronella Twine

Alright, that’s it.
Some of my friends will have already noticed my long absence from Second Life. Also visitors will have seen that my blog is not entirely about SL anymore. The reason for that is that I don’t log in as Laronella Twine anymore. There are good reasons for that but they don’t belong here. Let’s just say I wasn’t able to play like I wanted anymore. I know I could have dealt with the situation but I also felt radical change was necessary. So I created a new Avatar and everything turned out just fine for her. If anyone would like to continue Laronellas friendship, please don’t hesitate to contact Navaaria Resident.

I had a great time with you Laronella but all good things come to an end…

Rest in peace, Laronella Twine – long live Navaaria Resident!
